MYRTLE 018: Stay of Execution

MYRTLE//
Some of my memories have been lost to the ages. But I hope I can elucidate some of the early history of the Magicademy.
VINCENT//
Certainly everyone can benefit from a history lesson or two.
ROXANNE//
Had you seen anything more of the woman in the red dress?
MYRTLE//
I hadn't.
MYRTLE//
In fact, I hadn't thought on her visit much, thinking she was just another associate of my father's.
ROXANNE//
You believed that you were haunted?
MYRTLE//
I did.
I had no basis for any other guess. My father was entirely non-magical, or so I've always come to believe, and my mother was long dead.
I didn't think on my mother much. I suppose I always felt abandoned by her, so she was a non-entity to me.
I didn't even imagine that it was her ghost that was pestering me.
In fact, I probably would have preferred it otherwise.
MYRTLE//
I ended up calling the occurrence 'Mage Hand'.
MYRTLE//
It would be some time until I was able to have any modicum of control over the effort.
